Abstract:

Diplomová práca pojednáva o situácii Africko Amerických žien v Spojených Štátoch Amerických. Zaoberá sa postavením žien Afrického povodu v USA od dob otroctva, cez obdobie prvej a druhej svetovej vojny, obdobie boja za ľudské a ženské práva až po súčasnosť. Práca prihliada na životné podmienky tejto skupiny žien, rodinné zázemie, politické práva, pracovné príležitosti a spoločenský život. Cieľom práce je pukázať na dvojité merítko pohľadu na Africko Americké ženy a diskrimináciu, ktorej sú vystavované a to nie len z pohľadu ich rasy ale aj pohlavia.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the situation of African American women in the United States of America. It is concerned with the status of women of African descent in the USA from the period of slavery and abolition, throughout the First and Second World War, period of Human rights Movement and Women´s rights Movement until the current situation. The thesis is occupied with living conditions of this group of women, their family background, political rights, as well as work opportunities and conditions and social life. The aim of the paper is to point out the double standard of view of African American women and the fact that they have been discriminated against not only because of their race but also because of their sex.
