Rehabilitation of an adult subject with osteoporosis and fracture of the peroneal malleolus: case report.

Abstract:

In this paper I intend to describe a clinical case I myself have dealt with. The patient I followed, L.M., suffered a slightly displaced fracture of the peroneal malleolus. My work began after the removal of the plaster cast. The thesis initially describes the anatomy of all the structures involved, ie bone, ligament and muscle starting up to the joint. To then describe the biomechanics of these structures and the influence of these specific structures in reference to the clinical case described later. The surgical possibilities and the pharmacological treatment will then be presented. The clinical case is structured in progression to the therapies performed. A rehabilitative protocol will therefore be presented to reduce pain, swelling, and recovery of joint function until the step is completed. Therefore abandonment of aids and progressive return to work and activities of daily life. Therapies are then discussed and the alternatives, personal opinions and future developments could be discussed.

Abstract:

In questo mio elaborato si intende descrivere un caso clinico da me stesso affrontato. Il paziente che ho seguito, L.M., ha subito una frattura leggermente scomposta del malleolo peroneale. Il mio lavoro ha avuto inizio dopo la rimozione del tutore gessato. La tesi descrive inizialmente la anatomia di tutte le strutture coinvolte, ossia a partenza ossea, legamentosa e muscolare sino a quella articolare. Per poi descrivere la biomeccanica di queste strutture e l'influenza di queste strutture specifiche in riferimento al caso clinico descritto successivamente. Verranno poi presentate le possibilit? chirurgiche e il trattamento farmacologico. Il caso clinico ? strutturato in progressione alle terapie effettuate. Si presenter? quindi un protocollo riabilitativo atto a ridurre il dolore, il gonfiore, al recupero della funzione articolare sino al completamento della fase del passo. Quindi abbandono degli ausili e ritorno progressivo al lavoro e alle attivit? della vita quotidiana. Vengono discusse poi le terapie eseguite e quali potevano essere le alternative, opinioni personali e sviluppi futuri.
