Sociolinguistic interpretation of contemporary Mexican Spanish present in the series Silvana sin lana

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the relationship between two selected linguistic phenomena and their use by speakers who belong to different social groups. The first examined phenomenon is verbal courtesy (i.e. address forms), the second are the so-called structures with particle “le”. The correct use of both studied phenomena is defined by several linguists and, according to certain theories speakers from lower social groups deviates from their correct use. The work is divided into two parts, the first part provides a theoretical basis and explains the concepts that are later used and analyzed in the practical part. The second part of the work is a practical part in which the replicas from the selected series are analyzed. The aim of this work is to find out whether the correct use of the mentioned phenomena depends on the social class of the speakers.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá vztahem dvou vybraných lingvistických fenoménů a jejich užíváním mluvčími, kteří patří do rozdílných sociálních skupin. Prvním zkoumaným fenoménem je verbální zdvořilost (tj. použití vykání/tykání), druhým jsou tzv. konstrukce s částicí “le”. Správné užívání obou zkoumaných fenoménů je definováno několika lingvisty a podle některých teorií mluvčí z nižších sociálních skupin se odchylují od korektní normy. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí, první část poskytuje teoretický základ a vysvětluje koncepty, které jsou později aplikovány a analyzovány v praktické části. Druhá část práce představuje praktickou část, v níž se analyzují repliky z vybraného seriálu. Cílem této práce je zjistit, zda správné využívání zmíněných fenoménů závisí od sociální třídy mluvčích.
