Extropian World-View in Relation to Information Technologies

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce Extropiánský náhled na svět s ohledem na informační technologie pojednává především o principech, přístupech, hodnotách, myšlenkách a vizích technooptimistického hnutí extropiánů, které se formuje během posledního desetiletí především v USA. Věnuje se také tématům, která s extropiánským smýšlením úzce souvisejí: teorii vzniku noosféry, technologické singularitě, mind uploadingu či kryonice. V prvních dvou kapitolách se zabývá osobnostmi a principy extropiánství, přičemž podrobně mapuje princip dynamického optimismu, který je nedílnou součástí extropiánské filozofie. Třetí a čtvrtá kapitola nastiňuje různé teorie vzniku noosféry, podmínky příchodu technologické singularity i její možné následky pro lidskou společnost. V páté kapitole jsou navrženy a představeny možné hypotetické způsoby a technologie pro překonání lidské smrtelnosti. V závěru práce, v šesté a sedmé kapitole, je poukázáno na etickou stránku extropiánství a jsou nastíněny možné hypotézy dalšího vývoje v intencích extropiánského myšlení.

Abstract:

This thesis entitled "Extropian World-View in Relation to Information Technologies" discuss principles, approaches, values, thoughts and visions of techno-optimistic extropian movement that is being constituted in the last decade especially in the USA. The issues related to extropian views are also discussed such as the theory of noosphere, technological singularity, mind uploading and cryonics. Famous extropians and extropian principles are discussed in the first two chapters, together with the principles of dynamic optimism that are surveyed in detail being integral part of extropian views. The third and fourth chapter outline various theories of noosphere's emergence as well as conditions for the arrival of technological singularity and possible consequences for human society. The fifth chapter features various hypothetical means and technologies required for coping with finiteness. Ethical aspects of extropianism as well as thoughts of the future development are pointed out at the end of the thesis, in the sixth and seventh chapter.
