Abstract:

Rozvoj textilního průmyslu 19. století a první polovině 20. století přinesl Brnu přívlastek moravský Manchester. Město se stalo v tuto dobu významným vlnařským centrem. Prvopočátky manufakturní výroby sahají do druhé poloviny 18. století a její vznik byl podporován vládními institucemi Rakousko-Uherské monarchie. Kvalitní výrobky brněnských továren nacházely odbytiště na domácím trhu i v zahraničí. Tuzemské surovinové zdroje nebyly nikdy dostačující, přestože se domácí chovy merinových ovcí zaváděly. Vždy se kvalitní vlna musela dovážet, především z Anglie. V období největšího nedostatku suroviny se využívala k výrobě tzv. trhaná recyklovaná vlna. Z kvalitních vlněných látek se zhotovovali pánské i dámské oděvy na základě návrhů zveřejňovaných v populárních módních časopisech. Tyto oděvy takřka vždy doplňoval nezbytný klobouk.

Abstract:

The development of the textile industry in the 19th century and in the first half of the 20th century the city of Brno was given a nickname Moravan Manchester. The city became a center of wool manufacturing at that time. The origins of the manufacture lie back in the sekond half of the 18th century. The manufacturing was supported by the government insitutions of the Austrian monarchy. High duality products of the factories of Brno were succesfuly sold in the home market and also abroad. Domestic goods were never enough for the manufacturing , although the government officials tried to increase the quality of sheep breeding. They also supported the import of speacial breeds of sheep. During the time of manufacturing in Brno, it was necessary to import the wool, mainly from Britain. At the time of the worst lack of the goods was even used so called recycled wool. Men and women suits based on the designes of the popular fashion magazines were made of the high quality wool. These clothes always went together with a necessary hat.
