Participation of students in financing university studies in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce je identifikovat možnosti spoluúčasti studentů při financování vysokoškolského studia v České republice. Teoretická část se zabývá nejprve terciálním vzděláním a jeho financováním obecně, především vývojem mezinárodní klasifikací vzdělávání a vývojem evropského terciálního vzdělávání. Následně jsou představeny systémy financování terciálního vzdělávání v České republice, Austrálii a Anglii. Praktická část analyzuje finanční zdroje studentů veřejných vysokých škol, jejich původ a využití, a také postoj k zavedení školného na veřejných vysokých školách v České republice. Dále je navržena forma zvýšení spoluúčasti studentů na financování terciálního vzdělávání v České republice spolu se návrhem snížení jejího dopadu na studenty.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis aims to identify the possibilities of student participa-tion in financing higher educational studies in the Czech Republic. The first part of the thesis describes tertiary education and its funding in general, especially the development of the international classification of education and the development of European tertiary education. Subsequently, the systems of financing tertiary education in the Czech Republic, Australia and England are introduced. The prac-tical part analyses the financial resources of students at public universities in Czech Republic, their origin and use. There is also an analysis of the attitude of respondents to the establishment of tuition fees at public universities in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, a form of increasing the participation of students in the financing of tertiary education in the Czech Republic is proposed, together with a proposal to reduce its impact on students.
