Cyber Attacks on Critical Infrastructure

Abstract:

Diplomová práce reaguje na aktuální situaci, jež byla zjištěna v souvislosti s celosvětovou pandemií. Ve chvíli, kdy se musel veškerý život přesunout z reálu do online prostředí, se ukázalo, jak nedostatečně se současná populace orientuje v oblasti digitalizace a e-commerce. Ještě závažnější bylo zjištění, jak zranitelné je toto prostředí a jak málo dbají firmy i velká státní zařízení na kybernetickou bezpečnost. V práci je proto rozebrán současný stav a na 3 případových studiích, 3 konkrétních kyberútocích je provedena analýza jejich motivace, cílů, průběhu, dopadu a následných opatření. Na základě vyhodnocených indikátorů byla navržena doporučení a opatření pro všechny, kdo zodpovídají za bezpečnost a provozuschopnost počítačových systémů a sítí, aby kyberútoky co nejméně ohrožovaly provoz a finance důležitých zařízení, ale i zdraví a lidské životy.

Abstract:

The thesis reacts to the current situation, which was detected in connection with the worldwide pandemic. At the moment when the whole life had to move from the reality to the online environment, it became apparent how insufficiently is the current population oriented in the area of digitalization and e-commerce. Even more severe was the finding how vulnerable this environment is and how little the companies and large state facilities care about cyber security. For this reason the thesis investigates the current state and on 3 case studies, 3 specific cyberattacks the analysis of their motivation, objectives, process, impact and following precautions is done. Based on the evaluated indicators the recommendations and measures were proposed for everyone, who are responsible for security and operability of computer systems and networks so the cyberattacks would threaten the operation and finance of of the important devices but also health and human lives as least as possible.
