Determination of corrosion resistance of pigmented and unpigmented organic coatings based on electrochemical methods and by testing in simulated corrosion atmospheres

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá studiem a porovnáním korozně-inhibičních vlastností pigmentovaných a nepigmentovaných organických povlaků pomocí standartních korozních testů v simulovaných korozních atmosférách a elektrochemické techniky lineární polarizace. Testovány byly pigmentované organické povlaky na bázi epoxyesterové pryskyřice s obsahem pigmentů různého chemického složení a mechanismu působení (minium Pb3O4, fosforečnan zinečnatý Zn3(PO4)2?2H2O, zinkferit ZnFe2O4, mastek Mg-Al(Si4O10) a zinkferit ZnFe2O4 s povrchovou úpravou polyanilinu dopovaným různými typy dopantů. Cíl práce spočíval v porovnání antikorozních vlastností organických povlaků v závislosti na typu testovaného pigmentu i v závislosti na hodnotě objemové koncentrace jednotlivých testovaných pigmentů. Konkrétně byly pro práci formulovány nátěrové hmoty s obsahem jednotlivých typů pigmentů při hodnotách objemových koncentrací 5, 10 a 15 %, kdy připravené nátěrové hmoty byly aplikovány na ocelové panely a připravené organické povlaky byly testovány pomocí cyklických korozních zkoušek a pomocí elektrochemické techniky lineární polarizace. Elektrochemická technika lineární polarizace byla navíc použita i pro testování nepigmentovaných organických povlaků o různé pojivové bázi a s různým mechanismem síťování (fyzikální, fyzikálně-chemický a oxopolymerační mechanismus). Ze získaných výsledků vyplývá, že vhodnou formulací jednokomponentní nátěrovou hmotou na bázi epoxyesterové pryskyřice lze dosáhnout srovnatelné korozní odolnosti v porovnání s dvoukomponentními nátěrovými hmotami na bázi epoxidové pryskyřice bisfenolového typu. Dále je ze získaných výsledků patrné, že účinnost nových ekologických pigmentů (ZnFe2O4, Zn3(PO4)2?2H2O) s obsahem zinku se přibližují v parametru odolnosti vůči puchýřovatění pigmentu obsahující toxické olovo (např. miniu).

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the study and comparison of corrosion-inhibition properties of pigmented and non-pigmented organic coatings using standard corrosion tests in simulated corrosive atmospheres and electrochemical linear polarization technique. Pigmented organic coatings that were tested were based on epoxy ester resin containing pigments of various chemical composition and mechanism of action (minium Pb3O4, zinc phosphate Zn3(PO4)2?2H2O, zinc ferrite ZnFe2O4, talc Mg-Al(Si4O10) and zinc ferrite ZnFe2O4 surface-treated with ZnFe2O4 with polyaniline surface treatment doped with different types of dopants. The aim of the work was to compare the anticorrosive properties of organic coatings depending on the type of tested pigment and depending on the value of the volume concentration of individual tested pigments. Specifically, paints containing individual types of pigments were formulated for the work at values of volume concentrations of 5, 10 and 15%, where the prepared paints were applied to steel panels and the prepared organic coatings were tested by cyclic corrosion tests and electrochemical linear polarization technique. In addition, the electrochemical linear polarization technique was used to test unpigmented organic coatings with different binder bases and with different crosslinking mechanisms (physical, physico-chemical and oxopolymerization mechanism). The obtained results show that a comparable corrosion resistance can be achieved compared to two-component coatings based on bisphenol-type epoxy resin by appropriate formulation of a single-component epoxy ester resin coating. Furthermore, the obtained results show that the effectiveness of new ecological pigments (ZnFe2O4, Zn3(PO4)2?2H2O) with zinc content are approaching in the parameter of the blistering resistance of a pigment containing toxic lead (eg minium).
