Interakcia hostiteľa a patogénu je nesmierne dôležitá z hľadiska úspešnej patogenézy a vyvolania ochorenia. Tieto interakcie sú sprevádzané rozličnými molekulárnymi, či bunkovými mechanizmami, ktoré patogén využíva pri vyvolaní infekcie.
