Implementation and current state of Smart Cities concept in Prague

Abstract:

Pojem Smart City je čím dál používanější i přestože k němu doposud neexistuje přesná definice. Města tak stále vymýšlí projekty, na které je možné dát nálepku chytrosti, je ale otázkou, zdali jsou tyto projekty skutečně přínosné anebo jsou realizovány jen kvůli atraktivnosti a trendům ze zahraničí. Praha se pokouší o integraci široké řady projektů spadajících do konceptu Smart Cities a tato bakalářská práce si klade za cíl analyzovat vybrané projekty pod křídly vize Smart Prague. V rámci této vize Praha reaguje na rostoucí počet obyvatel této metropole. Tyto projekty jsou porovnány v ekonomickém, datovém a ekologickém sektoru v rámci kterých je zkoumán jejich přínos. Cíl práce byl naplněn provedením kritického zhodnocení projektů, díky kterému se našlo doporučení pro Prahu, na které projekty by se měla více zaměřit, kde je velký potenciál a jaké je lepší nechat na pozdější dobu až se vyřeší aktuálnější problémy. Tato bakalářská práce by tak měla být přínosná pro Prahu, konkrétněji pro OICT, který má pod záštitou většinu projektů, ale i pro ostatní města České republiky, jelikož tyto výsledky mohou být inspirativní i pro jiná města. Zároveň slouží jako přehled o aktuální stavu konceptu Smart City v Praze.

Abstract:

The term Smart City is becoming more widely used, although there is still no precise definition of it. As a result, cities are actively trying to come up with projects that can be labeled as smart, but the question is whether these projects are beneficial or are implemented only because of the attractiveness and trends from abroad. Prague is trying to integrate a wide range of projects falling into the concept of Smart Cities and this bachelor's thesis aims to analyze selected projects under the wings of the vision of Smart Prague. As part of this vision, Prague is responding to the growing population of this metropolis. These projects are being compared in the economic, data and environmental sectors, within which their benefits are being examined. The aim of this work was fulfilled by performing a critical evaluation of projects, thanks to which a recommendation was found for Prague, which consists of an overview of which projects Prague should focus more on, where there is great potential and what is better to leave for later, when more current issues are resolved. This bachelor's thesis should be beneficial for Prague, more specifically for OICT, which has most projects under its auspices, but also for other cities in the Czech Republic, as these results may be inspiring for other cities. At the same time, it serves as an overview of the current state of the Smart City concept in Prague.
