Principle of subjectivisation: Neoformalist analysis of Public Enemies

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je neoformalistickou analýzou filmu Veřejní nepřátelé (Michael Mann, USA, 2009). Po teoreticko-metodologickém úvodu, který zahrnuje základní teze ekonomického a kulturně-historického kontextu a neoformalistické analýzy, se práce zabývá produkčními fázemi, marketingovými a distribučními strategiemi a kritickou recepcí filmu. Hlavní část práce je věnována neoformalistické filmové analýze, kterou rozdělujeme na část naratologickou a stylistickou. Jednotícím principem, který film sjednocuje na všech rovinách, je koncept dominanty, jenž jsme si stanovili jako princip subjektivizace.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with neoformalist analysis of the film Public Enemies (Michael Mann, USA, 2009). After the theoretical and methodological framework that includes basic tenets of economic and cultural-historical context and neoformalist film analysis, the thesis deals with the production phases, marketing and distribution strategies and critical reception. The central part of the thesis is devoted to the neoformalist film analysis which can be divided into the narrative and stylistic part. The unifying principle for the entire film is the concept of dominant, which we set at the beginning of work as principle of subjectivisation.
