Nanostructured electrodes made of non-precious metals

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na možnosti tvorby a optimalizaci nanostrukturovaných elektrod metodou anodické oxidace. Za nanostrukturovaný povrch je často považován povrch pokrytý homogenními nanotrubičkami o definovaném průměru. Metodou vznikají na povrchu elektrody nanotrubičky o definovaném průměru. Takto modifikované titanové povrchy mají široké uplatnění například pro samočištění povrchů, fotochemii, medicíně, jako biosensory, ve fotovoltaických článcích, při čištění vody, tvorbě vodíku a pro plynné senzory. Analýza povrchu byla provedena meřením kontaktního úhlu, SEM mikroskopií, AFM mikroskopií, STM mikroskopií a elektrochemické vlastnosti byly zkoumány pomocí cyklické voltametrie a amperometrické detekce, využívající peroxid vodíku jako elektrochemickou sondu. Dále byla zkoumána fotokatalytická aktivita povrchu spektroskopickým měřením degradace methylenové modří. Podařilo se vytvořit nanotrubičky na povrchu elektrod o definovaném průměru v dosud nepublikovaném experimentálním uspořádání. Dále byla zjištěna tvorba nového nanostrukturovaného materiálu. Nanotrubičky na elektrodách vykazovaly jiné elektrochemické vlastnosti než nemodifikovaný kov.

Abstract:

The presented diploma thesis is focused on development and optimization of the formation of nanostructured electrode by anodic oxidation method. Homogeneous surface coated with nanotubes of a defined diameter is often considered as nanostructured surface. The anodic oxidation is method often used for formation of nanotubes of defined diameter on the surface of the titanium electrode. Such modified surfaces are widely used in construction of self-cleaning surfaces, in photochemistry, medicine, biosensors, photovoltaic cells, in the purification of water as well as in preparation of hydrogen and gas sensors. Contact angle measurement, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy were employed in investigation of surface structure and properties. Electrochemical properties were studied using cyclic voltammetry and amperometric detection. Hydrogen peroxide were used as electrochemical probes. Photocatalytic activity of the surface was further examined, when degradation of methylene blue was monitored by spectrophotometry. Method for preparation of titanium nanotubes of a defined diameter on the electrode surface was successfully developed and tested. Currently unpublished setup was used in this way. Furthermore, formation of new nanostructured materials was described. Nanotubes formed on the electrodes showed different electrochemical properties comparing to the non modified bare metal surface.
