Apartment gallery

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává především o fenoménu bytových galerií v českém prostředí. Z teoretického hlediska se část diplomové práce věnuje teorii galerií, fenoménu umělec kurátor, white cube a site specific. Práce dokumentuje současnou českou scénu bytových galerií od devadesátých let 20. století proč vznikají, jaký mají smysl, co provozovatelům přinášejí a zda je tento typ galerií přínosný pro společnost. Část práce je věnována rozhovorů s bytovými galeristy. Diplomová práce hledá, jaké místo zaujímají bytové galerie na výtvarné umělecké scéně.

Abstract:

This thesis deals primarily with the phenomenon of apartment galleries in Czech environment. From a theoretical point of view, part of the thesis focuses on the theory of galleries, artist as a curator phenomenon, white cube and site specific. The work showcases the contemporary Czech apartment galleries scene since the nineties of the 20th century - why are formed, how they make sense of what gallerists provide and whether this type of galleries beneficial to society. Part of the work is devoted to interviews with apartment gallerist. This thesis seeks, what place is occupied by the apartment gallery art scene.
