This diploma thesis is focused on the efficiency of using Cuisenaire rods as a didactic tool in English lessons at a lower secondary school. Firstly, the author will compare the Silent Way method from which Cuisenaire rods originate with Communicative Language Teaching. Diplomová práce je zaměřena na efektivitu používání didaktické pomůcky "Cuisenaire rods" ve výuce anglického jazyka na 2. stupni základní školy. Tato práce se bude nejprve zabývat teoretickou částí, ve které autorka porovná metodu Tiché cesty, z nichž "Cuisenaire rods" pochází s komunikativní metodou učení.
