Nutrigenomics - A Challenge of Individual's Health and Nutrition

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává o vědě, která se zabývá vlivem přijímané stravy na lidský genom. Tuto vědu nazýváme nutrigenomika. V teoretické části jsou nejdříve vymezeny základní pojmy, historie a metody, které nutrigenomika využívá. Podstatná část práce se věnuje vlivu výživy na lidský organismus, která má zásadní roli již v nitroděložním vývoji a raném období dětství. Teoretická část je dále věnována genetickému testování se zaměřením na problematiku komerčních testů a s tím související i právní a etické problémy nutrigenomiky. Součástí práce je také návrh zařazení nutrigenomiky a genetického testování do výuky přírodopisu a výchovy ke zdraví na ZŠ. Výzkumná část diplomové práce zahrnuje dotazníkové šetření, kterého se zúčastnilo 650 respondentů. Cílem výzkumu bylo zjistit povědomí veřejnosti o nutrigenomice a genetickém testování. Výstupem této práce je informační leták, jenž má zvýšit povědomí veřejnosti o nutrigenomice.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to introduce and explain the science of the effect of foods and nutrition on gene expression called nutrigenomics. The key concepts are explained in the first, theoretical part of the thesis as well as the history of research and particularly used methods. The content of the theory is dedicated with genetic testing, concerned with commercial testing, leading to genetic diagnosis of vulnerabilities to inherited diseases, and its relation to legal and ethical issues in health care and nutrigenomics as such. The thesis also aims to suggest inclusion of nutrigenomics and genetic testing in the tuition of biology and health education in primary schools. As a second part of the thesis is presented realized research using the method of questionnaire survey filled by 650 respondents. The main aim of the research was ascertain the public awareness of nutrigenomics and genetic testing. In support of seeking better comprehension and public knowledge there was created a handout as a final part of this thesis.
