The role of provincial reconstruction teams in Afghanistan reconstruction

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce analyzuje roli provinčních rekonstrukčních týmů (dále jen PRT) při konfliktu v Afghánistánu (2001–2021). Teoretická část se bude zabývat konceptem civilně vojenské spolupráce (dále jen CIMIC), z kterého PRT vychází, a na příkladu Malajského povstání bude prezentován vznik doktrín CIMIC a protipovstaleckého boje (dále jen COIN). V závěru teoretické části budou uvedeny příklady z novodobé historie CIMIC. V části pojednávající o PRT v Afghánistánu bude analyzován koncept PRT a to, jakou roli sehrál při obnově Afghánistánu. V části Analýza českého PRT bude provedena případová studie a podrobná analýza českého PRT v provincii Lógar. Závěr této práce bude zahrnovat zjištěné poznatky z analýzy českého PRT a doporučení od autora pro další možný vývoj a nasazení PRT.

Abstract:

The thesis analyzes the role of provincial reconstruction teams (hereinafter only PRT) during the conflict in Afghanistan (2001-2021). The theoretical part will deal with the concept of civil-military cooperation (hereinafter only CIMIC) on which the PRT is based and on the example of Malayan uprising, the emergence of CIMIC doctrines and counterinsurgency (hereinafter only COIN) will be presented. Examples from the modern history of CIMIC will be listed in the conclusion of the theoretical part. In the part dealing with the PRT in Afghanistan, the concept of PRT and the role it played in restoration of Afghanistan will be analyzed. In the part Analysis of Czech PRT case study and detailed analysis of the Czech PRT in Lógar province will be conducted. The conclusion of the thesis will include gathered knowledge from the analysis of the Czech PRT and recommendations from the author for possible further development and deployment of PRT.
