Design Thinking in the Process of Improving the User Experience - IS/STAG platform

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce využívá proces Design Thinking jako nástroj ke zlepšování uživatelského zážitku ze studijního administrativního systému IS/STAG. Tento systém je určen pro administraci školní agendy vysoké školy, v tomto případě Univerzity Tomáše Bati ve Zlíně. Výzkum práce je zaměřen na studenty univerzity a jejich autentický zážitek z používání portálu IS/STAG. Cílem práce je pomocí Design Thinking procesu odhalit uživatelské pain points, vyvodit konkrétní uživatelské problémy a navrhnout řešení pro intuitivnější a efektivnější systém. V teoretické části práce se nacházejí zadefinované pojmy uživatelské zkušenosti (UX), uživatelského rozhraní (UI) a samotného procesu Design Thinking. Následně je v praktické části analyzován současný stav uživatelského rozhraní portálu IS/STAG a popsán průběh polostrukturovaných uživatelských rozhovorů, které poskytují relevantní data pro zodpovězení výzkumných otázek. Práce přispívá k pochopení, jak lze Design Thinking aplikovat v oblasti technologií vzdělávání ke zlepšení uživatelského zážitku z online systémů pro studenty a učitele.

Abstract:

This thesis leverages the Design Thinking process in improving the user experience of the study administration system IS/STAG intended for the administration of the study agenda of a university, in this case the Tomas Bata University in Zlín. The research is focused on university students and their authentic experience of using the IS/STAG portal. The aim of the work is to use the Design Thinking process to identify user pain points, deduce specific user problems and propose solutions for a more intuitive and efficient system. In the theoretical part, defined concepts of user experience (UX), user interface (UI) and Design Thinking can be found. Subsequently, in the practical part, the current state of the practical IS/STAG portal is analyzed and the course of semi-structured user interviews, which provide relevant data for answering research questions, is recorded. The work contributes to the understanding of how Design Thinking can be used in the field of educational technology to improve the teaching experience of online systems for students and teachers.
