Selected aspects of quality of life in Bratislava housing-estates: Petržalka and Ružinov

Abstract:

The main goal of this work is to map actual situation of two Bratislava housing-estates Petržalka and Ružinov by the means of selected aspects of concept of quality of life. These aspects are three characteristics of housing-estates that suffered the biggest critique in the past. First one is the greenery as an important element in that should characterize the housing-estates, second one is traffic, which was problematic in regard of the remoteness of the housing-estates and the third one are civic amenities which was insufficient when the housing estates came into existence. Furthermore, the objective of the work is to point out the fact connected with the alternation of the postsocialistic housing estates and try to prove that these housing-estates went through the change to better. The thesis is divided into two parts. First is treating with theoretic view of the problematic of housing-estates and concepts of quality of life. Second part is mapping mentioned aspects of quality of life in Petržalka and Ružinov through the objective side with using of secondary sources and my own observation with the photo documentation but also through the subjective side by the means of the semistructured interviews with the citizens of Petržalka and Ružinov.

Abstract:

Cieľom tejto práce je zmapovať súčasnú situáciu dvoch bratislavských sídlisk Petržalky a Ružinova pomocou vybraných aspektov konceptu kvality života. Týmito aspektmi sú tri charakteristiky sídlisk, ktoré v minulosti znášali najväčšiu kritiku. Prvou je zeleň, ako dôležitý prvok, ktorým sa sídliská mali vyznačovať, druhou je doprava, ktorá vzhľadom na odľahlosť sídlisk bola problematická a treťou občianska vybavenosť, ktorá bola na sídliskách v čase ich vzniku nedostatočná. Cieľom je tiež poukázať na fakt spojený s premenou postsocialistických sídlisk a pokúsiť sa dokázať, že tieto sídliská prešli zmenou k lepšiemu. Práca má dve časti. Prvá sa zaoberá teoretickým pohľadom na problematiku sídlisk a na koncept kvality života. Druhá časť mapuje spomínané aspekty kvality života v Petržalke a Ružinove jednak po objektívnej stránke s využitím sekundárnych zdrojov, a vlastného pozorovania s fotodokumentáciou a jednak po subjektívnej stránke za pomoci polo štruktúrovaných rozhovorov s obyvateľmi Petržalky a Ružinova.
