The evaluation of nanoparticles interaction

Abstract:

Popis interakcí mezi nanočásticemi navzájem a také prostředím, ve kterém se nacházejí, je základním krokem pro jejich úspěšnou aplikaci, ať se jedná o jakoukoli oblast využití. Součástí této bakalářské práce je rešerše analytických metod, které jsou v současnosti využívané pro hodnocení interakcí nanočástic, včetně popisu jejich základního principu. Praktická aplikace analytických metod byla zaměřena na oblast aniontových receptorů, neboť tato oblast je v současnosti podrobena intenzivnímu výzkumu s úmyslem připravit selektivní aniontový receptor pro aplikaci v medicíně či k čištění odpadních vod. V rámci práce bylo připraveno a prozkoumáno několik typů aniontových receptorů, jejichž základní složkou byly amidové skupiny a močovina modifikované elektronakceptorními substituenty. Jako nosná matrice byl zvolen organicko-anorganický mesoporézní křemičitý materiál, který sám o sobě vykazuje dobré sorpční vlastnosti. Schopnost připravených receptorů vázat aniont z vodného roztoku byla testována na roztoku bromidu draselného. Pomocí iontové chromatografie byla změřena koncentrace aniontu v roztoku před a po přidání testovaného křemičitého materiálu a úbytkem této koncentrace byla prokázána schopnost receptoru zachytit daný aniont. Výsledky měření přinesly dva zásadní poznatky: zaprvé, že připravené receptory mají schopnost vázat bromidový aniont, a zadruhé, že samotné křemičité materiály jsou schopny vázat a opět uvolnit chlorid, neboť se po kontaktu roztoku s testovaným materiálem zvýšila koncentrace chloridů, která původně byla pod hranici detekce, až na téměř 2 mM.

Abstract:

Describing nanoparticles interactions among them or with the environment, where the particles are placed to, is the basic step for their successful application whatever the application field is. This bachelor's thesis contains a review of analytical methods which are currently used for evaluation of nanoparticles interactions including description of their basic principles. The practical application of the analytical methods was targeted to anion receptors, because this field is under intensive research due to the possibility of preparing selective anion receptor for medical application or for wastewater treatment. As a part of this work, several types of anion receptors based on modified amide and urea groups were synthetized using organic-inorganic mesoporous silica as a solid carrier because of its good sorption properties. The ability to bind anions in aqueous solution was tested on a potassium bromide solution. Using ion chromatography the anion concentration was measured before and after the addition of the tested silica and decrease of this concentration proved the ability to bind the anion. The results of measurement revealed two essential facts. First, the anion receptors prepared are able to bind bromide anions from aqueous solution. Second, the mesoporous silica themselves are able to bind and release again the chloride anion, because after the solution exposition to silica, the concentration of chlorides in the solution increased from an amount under the detection limit up to almost 2 mM.
