Anotácia:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá zobrazením skotských klanů a tradic osmnáctého století v knize Outlander od autorky Diany Gabaldon. Teoretická část práce zahrnuje stručný popis života autorky a její úspěšné knihy. Praktická část analyzuje skotské klany zobrazené v románu a popisuje jejich významné historické milníky. Do popředí vystupují klany MacKenzie a Fraser, s kterými je spojen celý děj knihy. Poslední kapitola je věnována skotským tradicím, které byly v knize Outlander významné, zejména manželství, svatba, a dále také tradiční písně, hudební nástroje, tance a sporty.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on Diana Gabaldon's novel Outlander and its depiction of Scottish clans and traditions in the eighteenth century. In the first chapter, this thesis provides a brief summary of the author and her book. The study concentrates on the Scottish clans featured in the novel and briefly recounts their history, with a particular emphasis on clans MacKenzie and Fraser because they are the two most important clans to the novel's plot. The last chapter examines the most significant Scottish traditions in Outlander, such as marriage and its associated ceremonies, traditional songs, musical instruments, dances, and sports.
