Statistical analysis of ©High Performance Teams survey data and a comparison of cultural differences within psychological constructs included in the tool

Abstract:

Zámerom tejto práce je preskúmať koncept “Vysoko výkonných tímov” a spôsob kolaborácie v takýchto tímoch, rovnako ako jednotlivé elementy tohto konštruktu. Na základe hĺbkovej operacionalizácie týchto jednotlivých faktorov si ďalej kladiem za cieľ porovnať ich na medzi-kultúrnej úrovni medzi Českou Republikou a Austráliou. Za týmto účelom som sa rozhodla použiť Austrálsky dotazníkový nástroj. Výskumu sa celkovo zúčastnilo 214 participantov z Česka a na štatistickú analýzu som rovnako použila aj dáta z Austrálie zozbierané od 549 participantov. Prvým krokom vo výsledkovej časti bolo zisťovanie funkcionality nástroja a jeho psychometrické vlastnosti aj vzhľadom k testovaniu na českej populácií. Neskôr som navrhla nový dizajn štruktúry nástroja, ktorý vykazoval lepšie štatistické vlastnosti. Táto nová verzia nástroja mi umožnila zistiť signifikantné kultúrne rozdiely (p< 0.01) vo faktore “Dôvera”. Rovnako sa mi pomocou SEM podarilo objaviť nové latentné premenné v dotazníku, ktoré boli podporené zisteniami v teoretickej časti mojej práce. Týmto som navrhla možný smer zlepšovania nástroja ako po štatistickej tak aj po obsahovej stránke. Kľúčové slová: Vysoko výkonné tímy, High Performing Teams; kultúrne rozdiely, SEM

Abstract:

The main focus of this thesis is to explore the constructs of teamwork, especially in High Performing Teams and to identify the cultural differences which might affect the way the teamwork processes manifest in practice across nations. To examine these differences I used survey originated from Australia. The tool was administered to 214 people from Czech Republic and 549 people from Australia. In the results section, I firstly tested the statistical functionality of the survey and explored its psychometric properties. Throughout this process, I re-designed the model using SEM and enhanced the structure of the model so it can better represent the data. Based on the new structure of the tool I explored some commonalities and differences between Czech Republic and Australia among which the differences on the Trust factor were most significant (p< 0.01). Moreover, by examining the structure of the model based on the items included in the survey I discovered new factors which are aligned with my theoretically anchored assumptions regarding High Performing Teams concept, and thereby I outlined further recommendations for enhancing the tool.
