Analysis of traffic accidents in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce, nesoucí název „Analýza dopravní nehodovosti v ČR“ se zabývá problematikou silniční dopravní nehodovosti na území České republiky, především v období let 2012 až 2022. Cílem práce je nastínit problematiku dopravní nehodovosti, zhodnotit její vývoj a identifikovat nejčastější příčiny a nejkritičtější faktory vzniku dopravních nehod. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. Teoretická část byla zpracována na základě studia odborné literatury. Definuje stěžejní pojmy týkající se dopravní nehodovosti a zahrnuje faktory ovlivňující bezpečnost, s tím související prevenci a zákony či legislativní opatření. Praktická část se zaměřuje na statistické vyhodnocení charakteristik týkajících se celkové nehodovosti, nejčastějších příčin či porovnání krajů České republiky na základě vybraných ukazatelů. Cíl byl realizován pomocí analýzy časových řad pro sledovaná období. Následně byla provedena predikce některých ukazatelů pro následující období. Veškerá data potřebná ke zpracování byla získána z ročních statistických údajů vydávaných Policií ČR, Českým statistickým úřadem a Ministerstvem dopravy. Analýzou získaných dat byl zjištěn dlouhodobě nepříznivý vývoj dopravní nehodovosti za sledované období let 2012 až 2022. Ovšem zatímco vývoj nehodovosti má kolísavou až rostoucí tendenci, statistiky úmrtnosti jsou o něco příznivější. Přestože má ve sledovaném období kolísavou tendenci, úmrtnost na českých silnicích dlouhodobě klesá. V důsledku dopravní nehody zemře na našich silnicích každý rok průměrně 554 osob. Česká republika eviduje každoročně průměrně 95 667 dopravních nehod, na nichž má největší podíl lidské pochybení, a to zejména nevěnování se plně řízení vozidla, jež má za rok 2022 na svědomí 16,16% všech dopravních nehod se známou příčinou, tedy 15 913.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis, entitled "Analysis of traffic accidents in the Czech Republic", deals with the issue of road traffic accidents in the Czech Republic, especially in the period 2012 to 2022. The aim of the thesis is to outline the issue of traffic accidents, evaluate their development and identify the most common causes and the most critical factors of traffic accidents. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part was prepared on the basis of studying the literature. It defines the key concepts related to traffic accidents and includes factors affecting safety, related prevention and laws or legislative measures. The practical part focuses on the statistical evaluation of the characteristics related to the overall accident rate, the most frequent causes or the comparison of the regions of the Czech Republic based on selected indicators. The objective is realised by means of time series analysis for the periods under study. Subsequently, the prediction of some indicators for the following period was carried out. All data required for the processing were obtained from annual statistical data issued by the Police of the Czech Republic, the Czech Statistical Office and the Ministry of Transport. The analysis of the obtained data revealed a long-term unfavourable trend in the traffic accident rate for the period 2012 to 2022. However, while the accident rate has a fluctuating to increasing trend, the mortality statistics are slightly more favourable. Although it has a fluctuating tendency in the period under review, the fatality rate on Czech roads has been decreasing in the long term. An average of 554 people die on our roads each year as a result of a traffic accident. The Czech Republic records an average of 95 667 traffic accidents each year, with human error being the biggest contributor, in particular failure to fully concentrate on driving, which is responsible for 16.16% of all traffic accidents with a known cause in 2022, i.e. 15 913.
