The Debt Crisis in the Eurozone and IMF Involvement on its Solving

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the debt crisis in the Eurozone, and addresses the participation of the International Monetary Fund during the crisis in the Eurozone. The structure of the thesis is divided into four main chapters where the first chapter is a method of reasoning observing the emergence and development of the Eurozone together with the criteria for entry and the advantages and disadvantages of the euro. The second chapter is analyses the evolution of public debt in the PIIGS countries. Since the debt crisis in the eurozone hit the economies of these countries, the GDP growth in their economies is analysed together with the development of their debt. Besides these countries we analyse the public debt of all countries in the euro area. The third chapter is based on ways of resolving the debt crissis by the European Central Bank, the European Commission and the International Monetary Fund. At the end of the third chapter we analyse in what amounts did the European three contribute to help the debt problem. The last, fourth chapter is based on the role of the IMF during the crisis. The chapter examined the credit exposure of the International Moneraty Fund not only in the Eurozone but overaly the European Union and Europe.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca sa zaoberá dlhovou krízou v eurozóne a rieši účasť Medzinárodného menového fondu počas krízy v eurozóne. Štruktúra práce je rozdelená do štyroch hlavných kapitol, kde v prvej kapitole je metódou dedukcie zaznamenaný vznik a vývoj Eurozóny spolu s kritériami pre vstup a výhodami a nevýhodami meny euro. V druhej kapitole je analyzovaný vývoj verejného dlhu v krajinách PIIGS. Kedže dlhová kríza v eurozóne zasiahla ekonomiky týchto krajín spolu s vývojmi ich dlhov analyzujeme aj vývoj hrubého domáceho produktu v ich ekonomikách. Mimo týchto krajín analyzujeme aj verejné dlhy všetkých krajín v eurozóne. Tretia kapitola sa opiera o spôsoby riešení dlhovej krízy zo strany Európskej centrálnej banky, Európskej komisie a Medzinárodného menového fondu. V akých sumách prispela táto Európska Trojka na pomoc z dlhového problému analyzujeme v závere tretej kapitoly. Posledná štvrta kapitola vychádza z úlohy Medzinárodného menového fondu počas krízy. V závere kapitoly je skúmaná úverová angažovanosť Medzinárodného menového fondu nielen v eurozóne, ale celkovo v Európskej únii a v Európe.
