Numerical model of the downhill ski compound of wood core and laminate layer

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá experimentální a numerickou analýzou mechanického chování lepené struktury sjezdové lyže firmy SPORTEN s obchodním označením IRIDIUM. Práce obsahuje rešerši v oblasti materiálové skladby (se zaměřením na dřevo, plasty a lamináty) a modelování sjezdových lyží. Za účelem určení elastických konstant byly provedeny statické zkoušky tahem a ohybem na jejichž základě byly pomocí programu MATLAB a mloc určeny žádané veličiny. Dalším bodem bylo zhotovení zjednodušeného modelu struktury lyže s použitím určených materiálových charakteristik, k němu příslušného konečno-prvkového numerického modelu v softwaru MSC.Marc a provedení modální analýzy za účelem zjištění prvních pěti vlastních frekvencí. V závěru byla provedena optimalizace skladby potahů z textilního kompozitu zjednodušeného modelu lyže. Hledaným parametrem byla kombinace tloušťky a natočení jednotlivých vrstev textilního kompozitu s cílem minimalizovat hmotnost lyže a maximalizovat tuhost lyže v krutu. Analýza byla provedena metodou konečných prvků v systému MSC.Marc, optimalizace byla řízena softwarem OptiSLang a pomocné výpočty probíhaly v prostředí MATLAB.

Abstract:

The aim of this master thesis is an experimental and numerical analysis of mechanical behaviour of a bonded structure of the IRIDIUM brand down-hill ski produced by the ski manufacturer SPORTEN in the Czech Republic. This work includes research in the field of material composition (with a focus on wood, plastics and laminated composites) and a modelling of the skis. In order to determine the elastic constants, static bending and tensile tests were carried out; the required quantities were determined using MATLAB and mloc software. The next steps were to create a simplified model of a structure of the ski using obtained material characteristics, to create the corresponding numerical finite element model in MSC.Marc system, and to carry out a modal analysis in order to determine the first five natural frequencies. Essentially, an optimization of the composition of textile composite skins of the ski model was performed, where the desired parameter was a~combination of the thickness and orientation of the individual layers within the textile composite skins. The goal was to minimize the weight of the ski while simultaneously maximizing its torsional stiffness. The analysis was performed by the finite element method in MSC.Marc system, the optimization was controlled by OptiSLang software, and the subsidiary calculations were conducted in MATLAB.
