Russian geopolitical thinking after the fall of the USSR - (neo)eurasianism

Abstract:

Téma zadané bakalářské práce zní Ruské geopolitické myšlení po rozapdu SSSR neoeurasianismus. Primárním cílem bylo provést analýzu neoeurasianismu jako geopolitické školy v postsovětském Rusku. Tento ideový směr navazuje na tradiční verzi eurasianismu, který vznikl ve 20. letech minulého století. A jeho obnovená verze obohacená o některé nové prvky známá jako neoeurasianismus se znovu objevila v 90. letech. Pro představitele této geopolitické školy je typické zejména tvrzení, že Rusko nespadá ani do Evropy, ani do Asie, ale je specifickou eurasijskou entitou. Text je rozdělen do několika tematických kapitol a pro naplnění cíle pracuji v textu s několika výzkumnými otázkami. V první kapitole se zabývám pozicí geopolitiky jako vědy v postsovětském Rusku. Konkrétně jsem se zaměřila na to, jaké geopolitické školy se v daném období objevovaly a jaké byly hlavní důvody nárůstu zájmu o geopolitiku. Následující kapitola pojednává o tradičním eurasianismu a jeho hlavních aspektech. Z autorů je zde představen P. Savickij a N. Trubeckoj. Jádro práce pak tvoří poslední kapitola pojednávající o neoeurasianismu. V první části jsem se zaměřila na hlavní teze této geopolitické školy a také na hlavní odlišnosti od tradičního eurasianismu. Z představitelů jsem uvedla L. Gumileva (Gumilev), A. Dugina, G. Zjuganova a V. žirinovského. Za nejdůležitějšího představitele je považován kontroverzní autor A. Dugin, kterému je v práci věnován značný prostor. U autorů jsou rozebírány zejména hlavní myšlenky týkající se neoeurasijské geopolitické školy a nejdůležitější publikace. Poslední část je zaměřena na praktické projevy neoeurasianismu v zahraniční politice Ruské federace.

Abstract:

A topic of this bachelor thesis is Russian geopolitical thinking after the fall of the USSR Neoeurasianism. A primary goal was focused on creating an analysis of Neoeurasianism as a School of geopolitical thinking in Post-Soviet Russia. This ideological direction is based on a traditional version of Eurasianism which was formed in 1920s. Neoeurasianism is its renewed version with new ideas and starts in 1990s. Representatives of this new direction share an idea of Russia neither as a European nor Asian country but as a specific Euroasian entity.The text is divided into several thematic chapters and for reaching the set goal I work with a few research questions. There is discussed a position of geopolitics as science in Post-Soviet Russia in the first chapter. I was specifically focused on which geopolitical directions were created during that time and what the main reasons and interests in geopolitics were. The following chapter deals with traditional Eurasianism and its main aspects. I mention P. Savitskij and N. Trubetkoi as authors. The core work lies in the third chapter where Neoeurasianisms is analyzed. The first part of the chapter describes main theses of this geopolitical school and also main differences from traditional Eurasianism. I mention L. Gumilev, A. Dugin, G. Zyuganov and V. Zhirinovskii from authors. The most important representative is considered a controversial author A. Dugin who is mentioned a lot it this part. Especially main ideas of authors about Neoeurasian geopolitical school and the most important publications are discussed. The last part is dedicated to practical results of Neoeurasianism in Foreign policy of Russian federation.
