Abstract:

Každý deň vznikajú veľké objemy dát, ktoré sú zvyčajne neštruktúrované a zložité. Klastrovanie je príkladom techniky, ktorá nám umožňuje rýchlo nahliadnuť do detailov ľubovoľného datasetu. Samotné klastre avšak sú iba čisté zoznamy objektov. V oblasti dátovej analýzy sa často stretávame s úlohami ako posúdiť podobnosť rôznych klastrov prípadne otestovať príslušnosť ľubovoľných objektov do vytvorených zhlukov. Vykonanie takýchto operácií však môže byť problematické, najmä ak sa chceme vyhnúť skenovaniu celých klastrov. Ťažiskom mojej práce je otázka, ako efektívne reprezentovať skupiny objektov. Celkovo ju vieme rozdeliť do troch hlavných cieľov nasledovne. Prvým cieľom je návrh reprezentácií skupín objektov, ktorý by zabezpečili tesné pokrytie skupín a zefektívnili tak analýzu zhlukov. Okrem toho plánujeme definovať operátory, ktoré by potom využívali reprezentácie pri podobnostnom hľadaní. Druhým cieľom je posúdenie kvality reprezentácií. Takéto znalosti by sa potom použili na optimalizáciu reprezentácií. Nakoniec máme v úmysle preskúmať použiteľnosť našich návrhov v oblasti podobnostného vyhľadávania. Jednou z možných aplikácií je nová indexačná štruktúra, ktorá by využila nami navrhnuté reprezentácie. Okrem toho môžeme aplikovať množinové operátory využívajúce naše reprezentácie ku kombinovaniu údajov z rôznych zdrojov za predpokladu, že dáta zdieľajú doménu.

Abstract:

Great volumes of unstructured and complex data are emerging on an everyday basis. Clustering is an example of a technique that quickly lets us acquire insight into the data. However, the clusters are mere enumerations of data objects. In data analysis, it is beneficial to assess the similarity of different clusters and to test the inclusion of some arbitrary objects in the established clusters. However, performing such operations might be troublesome, especially when one wants to avoid scanning whole clusters. The focal point of my work tackles the question of how to represent some groups of data. It can be divided into three core objectives as follows. The first objective is the proposal of group representations, which would provide tight coverage of data groups and thus make the analysis of clusters more efficient. Moreover, we would define operators that would then exploit the representations in similarity-searching tasks. The second goal is the assessment of the quality of the representations. Such knowledge would then be utilized to optimize the representations. Lastly, we intend to study the applicability of our proposals in the area of similarity searching. One of the applications is index structure, which inherently requires some data representations of the nodes. In addition, set operators defined over our representations might be advantageous when combining data from various sources, provided that they share the domain.
