Preschool children´s ideas about death

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá představami předškolních dětí o smrti. Nejprve je z pohledů různých vědních oborů definována smrt a související pojem umírání. Dále objasňuje pohled na smrt v různých historických obdobích v Evropě. V další části práce je popsáno, jak je smrt chápána v křesťanství, jak o ní píší masmédia a které právní normy vymezují legislativní rámec záležitostí týkajících se smrti. Stručně je charakterizováno dítě předškolního věku a způsob jeho pohledu na smrt. Kapitola o konstruktivistickém přístupu ve vzdělávání uvádí, jak pracovat s dětskými představami. Závěrem teoretické části je rozvedena tematika smrti v kontextu RVP PV. Průzkumná část je zaměřena na zkoumání představ o smrti u předškolních dětí. Použity byly metody rozhovoru a dětské kresby. Výsledky jsou kategorizovány a popsány jsou typologie dětských představ o smrti.

Abstract:

In my bachelor thesis I deal with the ideas of death of preschool children. First, the concept of death and dying from the perspective of different disciplines is defined. In the following part of this thesis I describe how the Christianity or mass media deal with the idea of death or which rules of law define the legislative framework of the issues concerning death. I briefly characterize a child of preschool age and present his way of understanding the concept of death. The chapter about the constructivist approach to education deals also with the question how to work with children's perceptions. Towards the end of the theoretical part of this thesis I deal with the theme of death in the context of the RVP PV. The research part of this thesis focuses on exploring the ideas of death amongst preschool children. The employed methods are interviews and analysis of the children´s drawings. The results were categorized and the typology of children's ideas about death was described.
