Pokud je rostlina napadena patogenem a patogen je rostlinou rozpoznán, dochází k tzv. nekompatibilní interakci rostliny s patogenem, kdy dochází k aktivaci obranných mechanismů rostliny. Tento proces doprovází exprese specifických genů a proteinů a akumulace metabolitů, pomocí těchto procesů je možné sledovat průběh obranné reakce rostliny. If the plant is attacked by a pathogen and the pathogen is recognized by the plant, there is the incompatible interaction between plant and pathogen, which leads to activation of defence response of plant.
