Mammography screening in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá mamografickým screeningem v České republice. V teoretické části je popsána anatomie prsu, karcinom prsu včetně jeho rizikových příznaků, prevence a screening. V závěru teoretické části jsou popsány diagnostické metody. Hlavním cílem práce je zjištění úrovně edukace a informovanosti žen ohledně mamografie, prevence rakoviny prsu a samovyšetření. Dále zdůraznění rizik a prevence karcinomu prsu. V praktické části jsou analyzovány výsledky anonymního dotazníkového šetření. Elektronický dotazník, vytvořený na stránce www.survio.cz, probíhal po dobu 2 měsíců a vyplnilo ho celkem 924 respondentek. Výsledky byly zpracovány do pruhových grafů a tabulek. Z výzkumného šetření jsme zjistili, že ženy Ústeckého kraje jsou poměrně dobře informované i edukované ohledně prevence rakoviny prsu i mamografie. Nejvíce na prevenci a o své zdraví dbají ženy ve věku 45-65 let a taktéž disponují v problematice nejlepšími znalostmi. Bohužel pravidelně si samovyšetření provádí pouhých 26,73 % dotázaných, z toho jen 50 % o něm má základní znalosti. Tato práce by měla zdůraznit důležitost preventivních vyšetření a jejich vliv na včasný záchyt onemocnění. Právě karcinom prsu je za poslední dobu jedním z nejčastějších a aktuálních onemocnění postihující ženy v České republice. Výstupem práce je informační leták se základními informacemi, který může sloužit jako vzdělávací a informační materiál např. v ordinacích lékařů.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on mammographic screening in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part describes the anatomy of the breast, breast cancer including its risk factors, prevention and screening. The conclusion of the theoretical part describes diagnostic methods. The main aim of the thesis is to determine the level of education and awareness of women regarding mammography, prevention and self-examination. Furthermore, it emphasizes the risks and prevention of breast cancer. The practical part involves the analysis of results from an anonymous questionnaire survey. An electronic questionnaire, created on the website www.survio.cz, was conducted over a period of 2 months and completed by a total of 924 respondents. The results were processed into bar graphs and tables. From the survey we found that women in the Ústí nad Labem Region are relatively well informed and educated about prevention and mammography. Women aged 45-65 are the most vigilant about prevention and health and they are also the most knowledgeable about the issue. Unfortunately, only 26,73 % of respondents regularly perform self-examination of which only 50 % have basic knowledge about it. This work aims to emphasize the importance of preventive examinations and their impact on early disease detection. Breast cancer is one of the most common and current diseases affecting women in the Czech Republic. The output of the thesis is an informational leaflet containing basic information which can serve as an educational and informational material for example in doctors' offices.
