The Picture Book "Struwwelpeter" as a Reflection of the Political Changes in Europe during the 19th and 20th Century

Abstract:

This Bachelor thesis deals with the political satire of Struwwelpeter published during the 19th and 20th century. The introductory chapter includes short reference of the original Struwwelpeter by Heinrich Hoffmann and explanation of the term Struwwelpetriaden. The rest of the work is dedicated to the analysis and interpretation of five selected works which are put in the chronological order according to the historical events they are concentrated on. The aim of this thesis is to show how the picture book Struwwelpeter served as a mirror reflection of the political changes in Europe in the 19th and 20th century on the basis of these selected picture books.

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci se zabývám politickými satirami Struwwelpetera, které vznikaly v průběhu 19. a 20. století. V úvodní kapitole se krátce věnuji původnímu Struwwelpeterovi od Heinricha Hoffmanna a pojmu Struwwelpetriaden. Zbývající kapitoly jsou určeny analýze a interpretaci pěti vybraných děl, které jsou zařazeny dle souslednosti historických událostí, kterými se zabývají. Cílem bakalářské práce je na základě těchto vybraných ilustrovaných knih ukázat, jak obrázková kniha Struwwelpeter sloužila jako zrcadlový obraz politických změn v Evropě v 19. a 20. století.
