Subjective Developmental Status in Independent Living Context

Abstract:

Cílem práce je získat odpověď na otázku co znamená být v pravém slova smyslu „dospělým“ – zda tuto charakteristiku lze posoudit měřítkem objektivity, či je v tomto ohledu spíše významnější subjektivní pocit. Teoretická část se zabývá tématem vymezení hranice, po jejímž překročení může být jedinec považován za „dospělého“, přičemž jednou z hlavních zkoumaných oblastí je kontext samostatného bydlení jedince, který je chápán v širších souvislostech jako jedna z hlavním podmínek přijetí dospělého statusu. Detailnější náhled do tématu „dospělosti“ nám umožnila teorie „vynořující se dospělosti“ (Emerging Adulthood) formulovaná J. J. Arnettem. V kvantitativní části práce je zkoumána souvislost pocitu vlastní dospělosti a naopak jejího rozporuplného přijetí s některými aspekty, které jsou pro jedince se statusem „Emerging Adult“ příznačné či potencované.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to get an answer to the question of what it means to be “an adult” in a real sense – whether to consider this characterization through the criterion of objectivity, or to see it from the point of more important subjective sense. The theoretical part deals with the topic of the definition of a boundary, after having crossed it an individual can be considered as “an adult”, with one of the examined area is the context of a self-reliantly (independently) living individual who is seen in broader connections as one of the main conditions of an adult status acceptance. More detailed outlook into the topic of “adulthood” has been provided with the theory of “Emerging Adulthood” formulated by J. J. Arnet. In the quantitative part of the diploma thesis the connection of one´s own sense of adulthood is investigated and – conversely – its inconsistent acceptation together with some aspects which are characteristic and potential for an individual with the “Emerging Adult” status.
