Combating Terrorism in Spain and Great Britain - the Comparison in the Context of Counter-Terrorism Policy of the European Union

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na boj s terorismem ve Španělsku a ve Velké Británii. Jejím cílem je odpovědět na otázku, zdali se přenesla protiteroristická opatření zavedená ve Španělsku a ve Velké Británii do legislativy Evropské unie. Teoreticko-metodologickým východiskem práce je evropeizace, která je zkoumána jak v horizontálním, tak vertikálním směru. Další část tvoří vývoj protiteroristické politiky EU, resp. ES, se zaměřením na období po teroristických útocích v USA ze dne 11. září 2001. Stěžejní část práce se poté věnuje konkrétnímu problému Španělska a Velké Británie a hodnotí protiteroristická opatření, která státy zavedly. Španělsko i Velká Británie mají velké zkušenosti jak s národním, tak s mezinárodním terorismem, a proto jsou v rámci EU považovány za nejvíce připravené státy v boji proti terorismu. Na závěr práce je aplikovaný teoretický koncept evropeizace na konkrétní protiteroristická opatření.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the fight against the terrorism in Spain and Great Britain. The aim of the thesis is to answer the question if the counter-terrorism measures established in Spain and Great Britain were transferred in the European Union legislation. The theoretical-medothodological basis of this thesis is europeanization, which is examined in both horizontal and vertical direction. Another chapter deal with the evolution of EU counter-terrorism policy, focusing on the period after the terrorist attacks in the USA on 11 September 2001. The fundamental part of the thesis is devoted to a particular problem in Spain and Great Britain and evaluates the counter-terrorism measures that were established in these states. Both Spain and Great Britain have extensive experience with both national and international terrorism and therefore are considered to be the most prepared to the fight against the terrorism, within the EU. The theoretical concept of europeanization on specific counter-terrorism measures is applied in the last chapter.
