New toponyms as a means of symbolic control of space? The case of Czechoslovak borderland.
Abstract:
Tato diplomová práce se zabývá otázkou pojmenování místa jako mocenského aktu, a to zejména na příkladu hromadné změny názvů německého a maďarského původu v Československu po druhé světové válce. Popisuje motivaci, průběh a výsledek těchto změn a přibližuje i dobové komentáře. Dále hodnotí dopad a úspěšnost tohoto procesu dnešním pohledem a nastiňuje možnosti dalšího výzkumu.
Abstract:
This thesis deals with the issue of renaming a place as an act of power, particularly by the case of the large-scale replacement of toponyms of German and Hungarian origin in Czechoslovakia after the World War II.
