IRONY IN BRITISH DRAMA
Abstract:
This thesis deals with the phenomenon of verbal irony from the pragmalinguistic perspective - what is its function, realization, and the primary motivation for using the irony. These information have been applied in the analysis of verbal irony used in the play by Oscar Wilde 'The Importance of Being Earnest'.
Abstract:
Tato diplomová práce se zabývá fenoménem slovní ironie z pragmalingvistického hlediska - jaká je její fukci, jak se realizuje a jaká je prvotní motivace pro její použití. Tyto poznatky pak byly aplikovány v analýze verbální ironie použité ve hře Oscara Wilda 'Jak je důležité míti Filipa'.
