The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the tourism field organisations in the Vysočina region

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje dopadům první vlny pandemie COVID-19 na organizace cestovního ruchu v Kraji Vysočina, kdy období první vlny je pro účely diplomové práce definováno od 1. 3. – 31. 8. 2020. Cílem této práce je odpovědět na tři výzkumné otázky. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a empirickou část. Teoretická část upřesňuje specifika zaměstnanosti v organizacích cestovního ruchu, která jsou dále demonstrována na modulu zaměstnanosti cestovního ruchu České republiky a seznamuje s problematikou zákoníku práce a jeho implementaci během první vlny pandemie koronaviru. Empirická část se zaměřuje na již realizované průzkumy týkající se dopadů pandemie COVID-19 na trh práce i oblast cestovního ruchu z pohledu tří úrovní: mikroúroveň (zaměstnanec), meziúroveň (organizace) a makroúroveň (stát). Informace získané ze sekundárního výzkumu poslouží k pochopení fungování trhu práce v České republice a k seznámení s reálnými, popřípadě výhledovými dopady na zaměstnanost v oboru. Závěrečná část práce se zabývá vlastní analýzou odpovědí získaných v organizacích cestovního ruchu z pohledu změn v zaměstnanosti, dopadů na fungování organizací a jejich tržby, a dále forem čerpání státních podpůrných programů. Závěrem první výzkumné otázky je, že v důsledku první vlny koronaviru nedošlo v Kraji Vysočina k masivnímu propouštění. Na základě odpovědí na druhou otázku týkající se tržeb a fungování organizací lze konstatovat, že většina provozoven byla téměř tři měsíce zcela uzavřena, což mělo následný dopad na vývoj tržeb. Propad tržeb nebyl jednotný a lišil se dle segmentů, do kterých se organizace řadí. Výsledkem třetí podoblasti otázek týkající se státních programů na podporu zaměstnanosti je, že nadpoloviční většina dotázaných organizací využila některou z forem podpor, naopak všechny organizace se shodují na časové a byrokratické náročnosti.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the tourism field organisations in the Vysočina region. The period observed in the thesis is defined from 1st March 2020 to 31st August 2020. The purpose of the thesis is to highlight three research questions. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The former describes tourism employment specifics which are further demonstrated through the Czech Republic Tourism Employment Module. The part also informs about the Czech Labour code and its implementation during the coronavirus pandemic. The empirical part contains the market research concerning the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on both labour market and tourism field and reflects the situation at three levels: micro (employee), meso (organisational), macro (government). The Secondary research is used in order to understand the labour market functioning in the Czech Republic and present the real and predicted effects on employment in the field. The final part of the paper deals with own created analysis based on the interviews related to the changes in employment, functioning of the organisations during the pandemic and also gaining state based financial subvention programmes. The first research question outcome is that there was not any huge dismissal in the tourism field organisations in the Vysočina region because of coronavirus pandemic. Based on the second research question outcome, most of the organizations were almost three months entirely closed which resulted in the profits. However, the decrease in profits was not similar among the business segments. The result received from the last research question is that more than half of respondents have acquired the state based financial subvention. Nevertheless, all respondents confirm time and bureaucratic relation.
