Incidence and diagnosis of toxocariasis

Abstract:

Larvální toxokaróza je druh onemocnění způsobené červy rodu Toxocara spp., řazeno mezi nejrozšířenější tkáňové helmintózy. Jedná se o přítomnost kolujících nebo následně opouzdřených larev ve tkáních hostitele. Dle konečné lokalizace rozlišujeme jednotlivé typy onemocnění. Práce popisuje anatomii a životní cykly původců onemocnění, včetně shrnutí výzkumů o výskytu onemocnění ve světě i v Evropě, z nichž vyplývá, že chudé oblasti jižní Ameriky, jihu USA a jižní a jihovýchodní Asie vykazují výskyt onemocnění nejvyšší. Práce shrnuje nejrizikovější faktory onemocnění, používané diagnostické metody s bližším věnováním se sérologickým testům ELISA a Western Blot a závěrem práce jsou popsány možnosti terapie.

Abstract:

Toxocariasis is a disease caused by worms of the genus Toxocara spp., classed among the most common tissue helmintosis. It is about the presence of circulating or subsequently capsulated larvae in the tissues of the host. According to the final localization are distinguished different types of diseases. The thesis describes the anatomy and life cycles of pathogens, including a summary of researches on the prevalence of the disease throughout the world and in Europe, from which follows that the poor regions of South America, South and Southeast Asia show the highest incidence of the disease. This thesis summarizes the main risk factors of disease, diagnostics methods used with a closer dedication to serological tests ELISA and Western Blot, and finally describes possibilities of therapy.
