Transformations of aquisition policies of museums and galleries

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Proměny akviziční politiky muzeí a galerií“ sleduje přístup státu v podpoře nákupů nových akvizic do sbírek muzejních institucí v České republice. Popisuje současné dotační tituly Ministerstva kultury České republiky, ze kterých mohou instituce čerpat na rozvíjení svých akvizičních činností. Představuje jednotlivé možnosti institucí, jak sbírkové předměty nabývat, či vyřazovat a přibližuje schvalovací proces, kterým musí každá akvizice projít, než může být do sbírky zařazena. Práce srovnává a hodnotí jednotlivé dotační tituly na podporu muzeí a galerií v jejich akvizičních činnostech. Taktéž srovnává celkové akvizice tří předních institucí zřizovaných Ministerstvem kultury (Národní galerie, Moravská galerie a Muzeum umění Olomouc) a v neposlední řadě pak představuje model financování kultury Velké Británie na praktickém příkladu londýnské National Gallery.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis „Trasformation of Acquisition Policy of Museums and Galleries“ follows the approach of the state in support of purchases of new acquisitions to collections of museum institutions in the Czech Republic. It describes the current grant titles of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, which institutions can use on the development of their acquisition activities. It introduces the individual possibilities of institutions to acquire or dispose of collection items and illustrates the approval process that each acquisition must undergo before it can be included in the collection. The thesis compares and evaluates individual grant titles on support museums and galleries in their acquisition activities. It also compares the total acquisitions of the three leading institutions led by the Ministry of Culture (Národní galerie, Moravská galerie and Muzeum umění Olomouc) and last but not least, it presents a model for financing the UK culture on a practical example of the London National Gallery.
