Why are people afraid of certain animal species?

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá fobiemi a obavami lidí z některých neoblíbených živočichů. Jsou zde ukázány postoje vůči těmto tvorům. Zaměřuje se na všeobecně neoblíbené živočichy a na skutečně nebezpečné tvory, kteří mohou způsobit smrt. Dále informuje o obavách lidí z tvorů, kteří nepředstavují reálné nebezpečí. Dotazníkovým šetřením byly zjišťovány postoje žáků gymnázia k různým skupinám živočichů, z hlediska jejich oblíbenosti, respektive neoblíbenosti. Dále se dotazník zaměřuje na informovanost o těchto skupinách živočichů. Výsledky ukazují, že naprostá většina dotazovaných chová největší antipatie k pavoukům a naopak nejmenší antipatie k myším. Další zjištění ukazuje, že informovanost žáků o neoblíbených živočiších je na velmi dobré úrovni.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with phobias and people?s fears from certain unpopular animal species. There are shown different attitudes towards these animals. It focuses on generally unpopular animals and these really dangerous ones that can also cause death. It also provides information on the people?s concerns about animals which do not pose real danger. A questionnaire survey was performed at high school to find out student?s attitudes to different groups of animals, in terms of their popularity, or unpopularity. Furthermore, the questionnaire focuses on general knowing of these groups of animals. Results show that the absolute majority of respondents feel the greatest antipathy towards spiders on the other hand they feel the least antipathy towards mice. Other findings show that the students? general knowing of the unpopular fauna is very good.
