This thesis contains information about economic factors, which were at the outset of cultural differences between American North and South. It deals with the emergence of the so-called "Southern conservatism" and differences between myths and reality about the American South. Práce se zabývá ekonomickými faktory, které jsou u počátku kulturních rozdílů mezi americkým Severem a Jihem. Zbývá se rovněž vznikem tzv. "Jižanského konzervatismu" a rozdíly mezi mýty a realitou o americkém Jihu. Popis ekonomických faktorů se vztahuje i na ekonomické nevýhody Jihu, během americké občanské války.
