Warlords in Democratic Republic of Congo

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřená na warlordismus v Demokratické republice Kongo. Právě značná přítomnost warlordů a jejich působení, jež výrazně přispívá k selhávání státu, patří v této zemi k nejzávažnějším hrozbám. Cílem práce bude analyzovat změny v politice warlordů od vyhlášení nezávislosti v roce 1965 až po současnost. Tyto změny budou zkoumány s pomocí následujících výzkumných ukazatelů: vztahy warlordů s místní vládou, vliv vnějších aktérů a způsoby získávání financí z nerostných surovin, které jsou klíčové při jejich komplexním teoretickém vymezení.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on warlordism in Democratic republic of Congo. A significant presence of warlords and their activities belongs to the most serious threat in the country and helps to the failing state. The goal of this thesis is to analyse changes in warlords policy from the independence DRC in the year 1965 to the present state. The changes will be represented by these research indicators: influence of the external actors, relations with domestic government and revenues from plundering resources by warlords. The findings in these segments are substantial for comprehensive theoretical definition of warlordism.
