Abstract:

Císařská diplomacie na bavorském a saském dvoře v osmdesátých a devadesátých letech 17. století Hlavním tématem této práce je císařská diplomacie ve druhé polovině 17. století. Období 17. století bylo nejen pro habsburskou monarchii, ale i pro celou Evropu dobou neklidu. V jeho první polovině se Evropou prohnala ničivá třicetiletá válka, ve druhé polovině byla Habsburská monarchie ohrožována z východu nájezdy Turků a ze západu dobyvačnou politikou francouzského krále Ludvíka XIV. Císař, který se neustále potýkal s nedostatkem financí, tedy musel zoufale hledat spojence, kteří by mu byli ochotni poskytnout pomoc v podobě vojenských jednotek. Získávat a následně udržovat císaři spojence bylo úkolem císařských diplomatů. Ačkoli z pohledu dějin stojí císařovi vyslanci v pozadí velkých státníků, jejich význam v rámci mezinárodní politiky je nepopiratelný. Kdo byli tito lidé? Co bylo náplní jejich funkce, jaké bylo jejich postavení na cizích dvorech, kdo jim při výkonu jejich úkolů pomáhal, kdo tvořil jejich doprovod, jak byli placeni a jak vůbec žili? Brali svou diplomatickou činnost jako životní povolání a poslání nebo byla spíše odrazovým můstkem k další kariéře? To je jen část otázek, na které se snaží tato studie najít odpověď. Výchozím bodem pro zpracování této práce byla korespondence dvou císařských vyslanců hraběte Jana Jiřího Marka, který působil v osmdesátých a devadesátých letech na saském dvoře, a hraběte Dominika Ondřeje z Kounic, jež byl v osmdesátých letech vyslancem na dvoře bavorského kurfiřta Maxe Emanuela II., s císařovým nejvyšším hofmistrem knížetem Ferdinandem z Dietrichsteina.

Abstract:

The Imperial Diplomacy on the Bavarian and Saxon Court in the 1680s and 1690s. The main topic of the work is the imperial diplomacy in the second half of the 17th century. The period of 17th century was a period of restlessness not only for the Habsburg monarchy, but for the whole Europe. The first half was accompanied by the destructive Thirty Years War and in the second half the Habsburg monarchy was threatened from the east by the invasion of the Turks and from the west by the politics of the conquest of the Louis XIV, king of France. The emperor, who was dealing with constant lack of finances, had to desperately look for the allies who would be willing to help him by providing military units. Imperial diplomats were responsible for gaining and keeping the allies for the emperor. Although from the historys view the imperial delegates stand in the background of the great statesman, their significancy in terms of international politics is undeniable. Who were these people? What did they do and what was their position on foreign courts, who helped them to accomplish their tasks, who accompanied them, what they were paid and how did they actually live? Did they consider their diplomatic activities as a mission of their lives or was it rather a spring board for their carreer? These are only a few of the questions dealt with in this work. The starting point for processing this work was the correspondence of two imperial delegates the earl Jan Jiří Marek who worked on the Saxon court in the 1680s and 1690s and the earl Dominik Ondřej z Kounic who was a delegate on the court of Bavarian elector Max Emanuel II. in the 1680s, together with the emperors high steward prince Ferdinand z Dietrichsteina.
