The Inception of Christianity and National Identity in Poland Based on the Book Lubonie by Józef Ignacy Kraszewski

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá tematikou počátků křesťanství a státnosti v Polsku. Cílem práce je představit čtenáři za pomoci knihy Józefa Ignacyho Kraszewského Lubonie a článků, které prezentují současné úhly pohledu, danou problematiku, aby měl možnost pochopit, jakou důležitost má pro obyvatele Polska 1050. výročí křtu Polska, které se slaví v letošním roce. Práce je rozdělena na tři části. První kapitola se věnuje historickým reáliím. Je zde popsána situace v 10. století na polském území a představena kněžna Doubravka a kníže Měško I., kteří se zasadili o přijetí křesťanství na území Polska. Druhá kapitola ukazuje příchod a vývoj křesťanství na polské území. Tato kapitola je zpracována podle dříve zmíněné knihy A třetí kapitola pak reflektuje zajímavosti, které se objevily v rámci letošního výročí.

Abstract:

This Bachelor's Thesis explores the topic of the inception of Christianity and national identity in Poland. The aim of the thesis is to introduce this topic to the reader with the use of the book Lubonie by Józef Ignacy Kraszewski and the articles which discuss the topic with a present-day point of view. All of this with the purpose of giving the reader an insight on how important the 1050th Anniversary of the Baptism is for the residents of Poland. The thesis is divided into three parts. First chapter focuses on historic facts. It describes what was the situation like in Poland in the 10th century and introduces the characters of Mieszko I of Poland and Doubravka of Bohemia who have worked on spreading the Christianity in Poland. Second chapter follows the arrival and the progression of Christianity in Poland. It is this chapter that is using the information from Kraszewski's book. Finally, the third chapter, consists mostly of the interesting facts that had happened during this year's anniversary.
