Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je pokus o objektivní hodnocení postojů papeže Pia XII. během druhé světové války. Toto hodnocení probíhá na základě vybrané literatury. Mezi vybranou literaturu patří zejména monografie týkající se papežova působení v úřadu a dílčí odborné studie věnující se této problematice. Vzhledem k tomu, že působení Pia XII. je reflektováno v celosvětovém měřítku, jsou vzaty v úvahu též cizojazyčné studie. Obsahově je práce historickou reflexí působení Pia XII. ve vztahu ke Třetí říši a vyhlazování Židů a je zasazena do širšího společenského rámce kontroverzního počínání hlavy církve.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to attempt an objective assessment of attitudes of Pope Pius XII during World War II. This assessment is based on the selected literature. The selected books include a monograph on the Pope in office and sub- specialized studies dealing with this issue . Given that the effect of Pius XII is reflected on a global scale, are also taken into consideration foreign language study. The contents of the work is a reflection of the historical work of Pius XII in relation to the Third Reich and the extermination of Jews and is set in a wider social framework of the controversial actions of the head of the Church.
