Dry eye syndrome - diagnosis and therapy

Abstract:

ABSTRAKT Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou syndromu suchého oka. V úvodu je popsaný přehled anatomie struktur oka souvisejících s tvorbou slz a slzného filmu. Slznému systému je věnována samostatná kapitola. V další části se zabýváme slzami, slzným filmem, jejich fyziologií a složením. Toto jsou potřebné hodnoty pro vyhodnocení kvality slzného filmu. V případě nedostatečnosti slzného filmu klasifikujeme vážnost syndromu suchého oka. V některých případech se syndrom suchého oka vyskytuje v kombinaci s obtížnějšími chorobami, jako je keratokonjunktivitis sicca, blefaritida nebo Sjögrenův syndrom. V dalších kapitolách se zabýváme diagnostickým testováním kvality slzného filmu, mezi nimiž jsou testy, které jsou na vybavenost méně náročné – klinické testy, dále testy specifičtější a na vybavenost náročnější – high-tech testy. V poslední kapitole je popsána terapie suchého oka – umělými slzami, v těžších případech okluzí slzných bodů či intubací slzných cest. V příloze je uveden příklad dotazníku zaměřeného na syndrom suchého oka a příklady v České republice volně prodejných umělých slz s popisem specificity jejich účinku.

Abstract:

ABSTRACT This bachelor thesis talks about the dry eye syndrome and it´s complications. At the beginning is described summary of eye structures anatomy which is related with creating tears and tear film. The next parts are about the tears and the tear film, their physiology and structure. This is useful information for tear film quality evaluation. If the tear film is insufficient we classify dry eye syndrome seriousness. In some case is dry eye syndrome connected with hard diseases, such as keratoconjunctivitis sicca, blepharitis or Sjögren syndrome. In next charts we talks about diagnosis tests of the tear film among which are tests that are less demanding on the equipment – clinical tests, further tests specific and demanding on the equipment – high-tech testing. The last chapter describes the treatment of dry eye syndrome by artificial tears, in severe cases occlusion of the lacrimal points or intubation of the lacrimal pathways. Attached is an example of questionnaire focused on dry eye syndrome and examples of in Czech Republic over the counter artificial tears described with the specificity of their effect.
