Genové inženýrství je metodou, která dnes nachází uplatnění v řadě oborů, a to i v okrasném zahradnictví a umění. Nicméně zatímco genetické modifikace v zemědělství vyvolávají značnou diskuzi, transgenní rostliny s estetickou a uměleckou funkcí zůstávají víceméně stranou všech komentářů. Genetic engineering has been used for many purposes and recently also in floriculture and art. Although its risks ands benefits for agriculture are often discussed, it seems that using engineered plants in art and floriculture is not a topic.
