Language erosion by German native speakers descending from the former German Bohemia with the focus on the current Carlsbad region

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with language erosion by German native speakers who live today in the Carlsbad region. It is divided into two main chapters, which are the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part discusses the geographical dialect distribution and the characteristics of dialect employed by the speakers, which will be listed. The marked characteristics are listed together with features, which classify the dialect into a larger dialectological region. In the practical part the interviews with the native speakers are transformed into a written text. The words which deviate from the standard form of language are transcribed using the alphabetic system of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). The results of the analysis are commented and categorised into primary and secondary characteristics. The primary features relate only to the given dialect, the secondary features have multiple dialectological regions in common. Eventually this analysis is then summarised and the condition of the given dialect on the territory of the Carlsbad Region is commented.

Abstract:

Tématem této bakalářské práce je jazyková eroze u německých rodilých mluvčích žijící dnes v oblasti Karlovarského regionu. Bakalářská práce je rozdělena na dvě hlavní části, teoretickou a praktickou část. Teoretická část se věnuje rozšíření a charakteristickým znakům dialektu, který daní mluvčí užívají. Další část se následně věnuje vyjmenování jejich charakteristických znaků, jak příznakových, tak znaků, které je zařazují do větší dialektologické oblasti. V praktické části jsou pak přepsány rozhovory s rodilými mluvčími, kde slova, která se od standartní podoby jazyka odlišují, jsou transkribována pomocí znakového systému mezinárodní fonetické abecedy, v angličtině uváděno se zkratkou IPA. Výsledky dané analýzy jsou pak okomentovány a rozřazeny do dvou kategorií na primární a sekundární charakteristické znaky. Primární znaky jsou pouze záležitostí daného dialektu, kdežto sekundární jsou společné pro vícero dialektologických oblastí. Následně je provedeno shrnutí, a pak okomentován stav daného dialektu na území Karlovarského regionu.
