Dilemmas of nursing personell in care of clients endangered by dementia in Strom života - Special care home

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce seznamuje se zařízením pro nemocné postižené demencí, především Alzheimerovou chorobou: Domov se zvláštním režimem – Strom života. Snažím se v ní odpovědět na otázku: „Jaké podmínky má personál ošetřující osoby postižené demencí ke zvládání dilemat spojených s jeho službou?“ Práce je rozdělena na tři části: teoretickou, metodologickou a empirickou. V první části se dozvídáme, co jsou to dilemata a jak se projevují. Následuje kapitola o personálu ošetřujícím nemocné postižených demencí. V kapitole o demencích se dozvídáme o příčinách jejich vzniku, projevech, dále o potřebách klientů, terapiích, apod. Poslední část pak seznamuje přímo s Domovem se zvláštním režimem – Strom života. V druhé části – metodologické – seznamuji s metodou a strategií výzkumu. V třetí – empirické – části seznamuji s postupem výzkumu, jeho výsledky a závěry.

Abstract:

The thesis introduces the facility for care of patients suffering dementia, especially Alzheimer disease: the Special Care Home of Strom života (The Tree of Life). In the thesis I explore the dilemmas which nursing personel caring for persons suffering dementia have to cope with. The work consists of three parts: theoretical, methodological and empirical. In the first part I explore what are the dilemmas and how they manifest themselves. Then follows the chapter about the personnel in nursing care of dementia patients. In the chapter about dementia I explore causes of the illnes, symptoms, needs of clients, therapies etc. Last part introduces Special care home - Strom života itself. In the second, methodologic part, I describe the method and strategy of my research. In the third, empiric part, I describe the research itself and its results and conclusions.
