Adolescent ideas about future family and parental roles

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo zjistit, jaký vliv má míra rodičovské péče a kontroly na adolescentní představy o jejich budoucí rodině a rodičovských rolích. Předpokládala jsem, že čím větší bude míra rodičovské péče tím více bude pro adolescenta v budoucnosti důležitá rodina. Také pracuji s hypotézou, že vyšší míra rodičovské péče bude souviset s věkem, ve kterém budou chtít adolescenti dosáhnout důležitých rodinných cílů jako je vstup do manželství a založení rodiny. V další části mé práce jsem zkoumala, jak dnešní adolescenti vnímají role muže a ženy v rodině, jaké úkony v domácnosti vnímají jako vyhrazené pro matku či otce. A jak je to ovlivněno jejich původní rodinou. Výzkumný vzorek tvořilo 732 adolescentů ve věku 15-18 let z okolí Příbrami. Analýza dat byla provedena pomocí hierarchické lineární regrese. Výsledky ukázaly, že míra rodičovské péče je signifikantním prediktorem pro budoucí směřování adolescentů, tento vztah je však slabý. Vliv rodičovské kontroly nebyl podpořen. Závěrem jsou diskutovány výsledky mé práce, její limity a přínosy.

Abstract:

This study aimed to investigate the effect of the degree of parental care and control on adolescents' perceptions of their future family and parenting roles. I hypothesized that the greater the degree of parental care, the more important the family will be for the adolescent's future. I also work with the hypothesis that higher levels of parental care will be related to the age at which adolescents want to achieve important family goals such as entering marriage and starting a family. In another part of my thesis, I examine how today's adolescents perceive the roles of men and women in the family, and what household tasks they perceive as reserved for the mother or father. And how this is influenced by their original family. The research sample consisted of 732 adolescents aged 15-18 from the area of Pribram. Data analysis was performed using hierarchical linear regression. The results showed that the degree of parental care would be a significant predictor for the future direction of adolescents, but this relationship is weak. The influence of parental control was not supported. Finally, the results of my study, its limitations, and its contributions are discussed.
