Moral competence and selected aspects of religiousness

Abstract:

V této práci se zaměřujeme na vztah mezi morální kompetencí a vybranými aspekty religiozity. V teoretické části si představíme psychologické pojetí morálky a uvedeme důležité psychologické teorie morálky. Morálku zkoumáme v souvislosti s religiozitou, přiblížíme si tedy křesťanské pojetí morálky a představíme si základní konstrukty religiozity, které budeme dále v souvislosti s morálkou zkoumat. Představíme si také nejdůležitější výzkumy týkající se souvislostí morálky a religiozity. Cílem empirické části je zmapovat vztahy mezi morální kompetencí, preferovanými stádii morálního usuzování a vírou. Zajímá nás, zda se liší míra morální kompetence a morální preference u věřících a nevěřících. U věřících dále posuzujeme rozdíly v morální kompetenci a morální preferenci v závislosti na intenzitě víry, dimenzi náboženské orientace a církvi. Také nás zajímá vztah morální kompetence, morální preference a pohlaví. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo 213 respondentů od 18 do 35 let. Zvolili jsme kvantitativní metodologii, dotazníky byly administrovány v elektronické podobě. Výsledky poukázaly na vztah mezi intenzitou víry, intrinsickou dimenzí náboženské orientace a mírou morální kompetence. Mezi dalšími aspekty religiozity a morální kompetencí nebyly nalezeny průkazné vztahy. Dále jsme objevili rozdíly v preferenci některých stádií morálního usuzování v závislosti na víře, intenzitě víry, dimenzi náboženské orientace, církvi i pohlaví. Výsledky také poukázaly na vztah mezi intenzitou víry, extrinsickou a intrinsickou dimenzí náboženské orientace a preferencí některých stádií morálního usuzování. V závěru práce jsou výsledky podrobněji popsány a diskutovány.

Abstract:

This work is directed at correlation between moral competence and selected aspects of religiousness. In the theoretical part of this work we are going to introduce psychological conception of morality and we will list the most important moral psychological theories. Morality will be researched in connection with religiousness, so we are going to introduce Christian concept of morality and basic constructs of religiousness, which will be further researched. We are going to list the most important researches in the scientific field of religiousness and morality as well. In the empirical part of this work we are going to study correlation between moral competence, preferred levels of moral judgement and personal belief of studied individuals. The goal is to find out, if there is a difference in moral competence and moral preference between believers and nonbelievers. Among believers we are also going to study the differences between moral competence and moral preference according to intensity of their belief, dimension of religious orientation and church affiliation. Correlation between moral competence, moral preference and gender is going to be studied as well. In this study participated 213 respondents at the age of 18–35. We have chosen quantitative methodology, questionnaires have been administered electronically. The results have shown correlation between intensity of belief and level of moral competence. Between other aspects of religiousness and moral competence we have not found any significant relations. Furthermore we have discovered the differences between the preference of certain stages of moral judgement in correlation with belief and its intensity, dimension of religious orientation and gender. The results have also shown correlation among belief and its intensity, extrinsic and intrinsic dimension of religious orientation and preferences of certain stages of moral judgement. These results are covered in detail at the end of this work.
