The mexican identity in the literature of the contemporary authors

Abstract:

In my diploma thesis I am dealing with the question of Mexican national and cultural identity. The Mexican culture is very heterogenous. Ancient traditions mingle with European elements, cultural patterns of other countries penetrate, interfere and assimilate into the original indigenous conceptions concerning basic questions such as creation of the world and human being, the vision of the life and death, social order, etc. The combination of all these elements result unique and varied sincretism. Nevertheless, a large scale of cultural influences brings questions concerning racial, national and cultural identity. The aim of this work was to investigate the elements that form or affect the development of this phenomenon in the selected works of the mexican writers.

Abstract:

Ve své bakalářské práci se zabývám otázkou mexické národní a kulturní identity. Kultura v Mexiku je velice různorodá, prolínají se zde staré předkolumbovské zvyky s evropskými prvky. Výsledkem těchto procesů pronikání, mísení a asimilace odlišných kulturních vzorců s původními představami, které se týkají základních otázek jako je vznik světa a člověka, pohled na život a na smrt, společenské uspořádání apod. je neobyčejně bohatý synkretismus. Velká škála kulturních vlivů s sebou však také přináší otázky týkající se identity, a to jak rasové, tak národní či kulturní. Cílem mé práce bylo na vybraných dílech mexických autorů zkoumat jednotlivé elementy, které tuto identitu formují nebo na její vývoj měly nějaký vliv.
